To mark our 50th Anniversary this year we launched an art project aimed at pupils in King’s Academy Bay House. Each has a caption commencing: I love Stokes Bay because…
1
…it has changed my life for the better. I moved here from London and the ocean has really helped me heal after my grandma passed away. It also made the transition for GCSEs to A level much easier. Watching the waves is so special to me because I never thought I would be able to see them daily, this is why I paint the waters here at Stokes Bay and why I love Stokes Bay.2
…it’s a warm and inviting place to be in and it’s quite relaxing after a long day at school to just sit on the beach whilst the sun is setting, and the waves are calm (I also love the ice cream from the café)3
…I enjoy going to the beach to play, go on walks or sometimes even just for some fresh air. Therefore, I am very happy to live so close to the sea.4
…because: The peaceful atmosphere and all the history.5
…I drew my picture all about my experiences in Stokes Bay. There are little black stick men all over my picture depicting : my school going to the lifeboat station, hanging out at the splash park, getting ice cream, going to the Bayside cafe walking the dog, swinging on the swing, sitting on a bench eating fish and chips and best of all my parents getting married in the bay side cafe.6
…I enjoy watching the sunset. Here’s a poem: The sun sleeps as skies turn gold, another bought and sold at Stokes Bay shore, we end the day where numbers fade in twilight’s sway.7
…it brings me joy and I love going to the beach because it makes me happy and it’s the best place for people to walk their dogs.8
…it is a fun calmful place to walk my puppy (Lola) who loves digging the sand and going in the sea, I also like to find cool shells and collect them and some rocks I paint.9
…the smell of the salt in the air and the wind on my face reminds me of all the time I’ve been able to spend with loved ones at Stokes Bay, from beach days with friends to dog walks with family.9 9 10
…of all the great memories I have attached to it, from peaceful dog walks to mini golf with friends. It is an important location in my life as well as Gosport history making this serene beach truly wonderful10 10 11
…it is a great place to meet up with my friends and family. Children can enjoy the park or splash park and take part in the Sunday Junior Park Run! Best of all, it is a beautiful place to walk in the evening to watch amazing sunsets.11 11 12
…what’s not to love? It is at the end of the road where I live, and I spend time in our bay throughout the whole year. I have had some of the happiest times with my family and friends there.12 12 13
…because of the beach and fun I have with my friends there and also the water sports with my friends for to me to do.13 14
…because: It allows me to do water sports, and it is a very nice place to go for a walk.
