Drones

Gosport Council gives the following guidance on flying drones:

The user is legally responsible for the safe conduct of each flight and failure to follow the rules can lead to criminal prosecution.

Rules for those who are flying any drone:

  • Make sure you can see your drone at all times and don’t fly higher than 400 feet
  • Check the drone before each flight to ensure everything is in working order
  • Always keep your drone away from aircrafts, helicopters, airports and airfields
  • Use common sense and fly safely; do not fly your aircraft in a way that could endanger people or property
  • It is illegal to fly your unmanned aircraft over an congested area such as streets, towns and cities

Drones fitted with cameras must not be flown:

  • Within 50 metres of people, vehicles, buildings or structures
  • Over congested areas or large gatherings such as concerts and sports events
